City of ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO. <br />A RESOLUTION GRANTING <br />A TEMPORARY CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT <br />PER MUNICIPAL ZONING CODE <br />SECTION 10.31, SUBDIVISION 3 (D) <br />FILE #1277 <br />WHEREAS, Ed Morrow, Chairman of the Big Island Veterans Camp, <br />Board of Governors (hereinafter "the applicant") has an interest in the <br />property located on Big Island Lake Minnetonka, Record Lot 1, within the <br />City of Orono (hereinafter "City") and legally described as follows: <br />Please see attached legal discription, Exhibit A. <br />WHEREAS, the applicant has applied to the City of Orono for a <br />Conditional Use Permit to permit the temporary overnight camping of workers <br />involved in the clean up of the property per per Municipal Zoning Code <br />Section 10.31, Subdivision 3 (D). <br />Minnesota: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Orono, <br />FINDINGS <br />1. This application was reviewed as Zoning File #1277. <br />2. The property is located in the RS, Seasonal Recreational_ <br />Residential Zoning District requiring a minimum of 5 acres in area. <br />3. The property consists of approximately 57 acres in area. <br />4. On May 16, 1988, the Orono Planning Commission reviewed the <br />application as proposed and recommended approNal, based on one or more <br />of the following findings: <br />A. The property consists of 57 acres and can provide adequate <br />camping area for a crew of 57 workers. Applicant shall maintain <br />one acre per worker ratio. <br />B. The proposed temporary use of the island for overnight <br />camping will not have an adverse effect upon the lake, upon the <br />land, nor upon neigboring properties. <br />C. Adaquate fire protection shall be provided for overnigl,t <br />campers and during open burn activities. <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
