MINUTES OF .THE ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />HELD MAY 17, 1993 <br />ZONING FILE #i823 -CONT. <br />Rossing said she would I ike to commence with the addition as soon <br />as possible , but noted she does not want to construct the berm at <br />this time, -but would like perm •ission to place the fill from the <br />addition where the berm would be located. <br />Mabusth clarified that the Planning Commission would like to <br />combine the landsca~rng with this request and that she could not <br />stoc_k pi le fi 11 from construction w i thout a conditional use permit. <br />It was moved by Rowlette, seconded by Peterson, to approve <br />Application #1823 for Marge Rossing, 130 Cygnet Place, for rear and <br />street setback variances to construct an addition to the existing <br />residence, on the hardships that the lot is an unusual shape and <br />the house was constructed prior to adoption of the existing <br />ordinance, subject to the project being staged beginning with the <br />completion of the e x isting detached garage, and second the proposed <br />detached garage be completed prior to commencing with the addition, <br />and a landscape plan to be presented to Council to be completed <br />over the upcoming years, and the driveway boundaries identified .. <br />Ayes 7, nays o. <br />(#6) #1824 ERIC & SHELLY LILJEQUIST, <br />2490 BIRCH LANE - <br />VARIANCES -PUBLIC HEARING 8:59 -9:18 P.M. <br />The Affidavit of Publication and Certificate of Mai I ing were noted. <br />Mr. and Mrs. Liljequist were present. <br />Mabus th e x p I a i ned the app I i cants seek a street setback variance for <br />a detached garage to be _ located in the street yard of the lakeshore <br />lot. She noted that during the inspection of the property, staff <br />found it necessary to back out onto Baldur Park at the three way <br />intersection, and suggested they need to remedy this situation. The <br />City Engineer has provided three options: <br />1. a Ii gn the garage and drive with the house; <br />2. construct the garage so the doors face away from Birch Lane and <br />ang I e the garage a I i gn i ng it with the property boundary; or <br />3. directly angle the garage toward Birch Lane. <br />Mabusth indicated the applicant has requested hardcover be ke~t t6 <br />a minimum as he wishes to complete future improvements to the <br />house. <br />9
