MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 22, 1988 <br />LMCD REPORT CONTINUED <br />Council. Hurr noted various options within the <br />report, one of which would be to place the <br />management of Lake Minnetonka in the hands of <br />another existing agency such as the DNR, Hennepin <br />County, or Hennepin Park District. The staff <br />recommendation, however, felt that progress would be <br />better achieved in the hands of the current LMCD for <br />various reason. The staff recommendation also stated <br />the LMCD should proceed with an accelerated plan <br />with regional input with a 12-18 m<nth deadline. <br />Hurr explained that following appin-al by the <br />Systems Committe it will be forwarded the Met <br />Council for approval. <br />Mayor Grabek felt that because of the uncertainty of <br />the funding for this study, a year would not give an <br />adequate amount of time to put together a well - <br />researched plan. <br />-Hurr submitted a letter from the Minnetonka Power <br />Squadron which has challenged the new fees for their <br />dock licenses on Big Island. <br />Mayor Grabek asked about the LMCD's position regarding <br />the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District? <br />Hurr stated the LMCD has not yet responded on this <br />issue, however, feels that there should be cross <br />representation between the the LMCD and the Minnehaha <br />Crer. Watershed District committees. <br />.METROPOLITAN WASTE CONTROL COMMISSION REPORT <br />MWCC Representative Jo Ellen Hurr reported that the <br />Metropolitan Waste Control has scheduled two meetings <br />dealing with the Orono Interceptor as follows: <br />-March 3, 1988 at 8:00 AM at Lord Fletchers to meet <br />with area businesses. <br />-March 7, 1988 at 7:00 FM at the Orono High School <br />to meet with the general public. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />There ware no comments from the public. <br />I <br />
