(It should also <br />he note.l that while pul,lic safety personel were originally to be <br />bound by comparable results through the arbitration process, an <br />alteration in the 1986 legislature left them :n the study for <br />comparison purposes with other jobs but removed the restriction <br />of being bound by the comparable worth results through the <br />arbitration process. At present this is the worst of both worlds <br />as they will then :,e driving the whole study without any <br />effective means to bring them into complicance with comparable <br />worth internal equity results.) Comparable worth is not a <br />nale/female compensation equilizer but to all positions. <br />ORONO IMPLEMENTATION - As you will note in Attachment B the staff <br />had made a proposal to the Council following the Police receiving <br />longevity in arbitration in 1984 that the Council review their <br />compensation. In light of comparable worth there were some <br />preliminary adjustments that were dune in the fall of 1985, but <br />indicates that there would not be any further adjustments until <br />comparable worth results were in to use as a gauge for further <br />adjustments.
