he was distributing a rough copy of the class size of K - 12 for Board infor- <br />mation; that Steven Greenfield will be conducting the study of the guidance <br />program for the district and will be in contact with Board members for input; <br />that he was distributing the Superintendent evaluation form and when Board mem- <br />bers have cimpleted them, they should return them to Kitty Crosby for com- <br />pilation. <br />John Maresh expressed concern regarding an article in the Sailor stating that <br />there may be a greater drug problem in the Orono Schoo his rict than in <br />surrounding districts and that he had heard co..cern expressed by community <br />members. Dr. Mich responded that it i; infortunate that that statement was <br />printed, it was not a direct quote but only -n implication on Chief Kilbo's <br />part, and that there is not any data/evidence to support that statement. <br />UPON MOTION by Lucie Taylor, seconded by Don Anderson, the School Board rejected <br />the bids for new construction received on September 19, 1989 and directed the <br />school architect to redesign and rebid the project so as to bring costs in line <br />with available resources. <br />Dr. Mich pruvided information on the plan that will be followed regarding the <br />construction of the new facility. The facilities committee (Dave McKown, Lucie <br />Taylor, Don Anderson, Bill Fenholt and Tom Micn) h;; recommended that redesign <br />be �Wdied with elimination of items cr use of Alternative items to reduce <br />Costs; that a construction manaqer be employed as a consultant for the purpose <br />of assisting in the redesign, reduction of costs on alternate items/elimination <br />of items and estimation of bids; that a new bidding date will be established; <br />that reconmendations For housing of students for the 1990-91 school year will be <br />developed; that an information campaign will be developed for staff, students <br />and the community. Dr. Mich stated that the Board will be kept informed through <br />Superintendent Advisories, updates at Board meeti,gs, Board workshops, etc. <br />UPON MOTION by Don Anderson, seconded by Jim Franklin, that, because of a change <br />in 'he tax levy heari^y date as determined by the State Commissioner of Revenue, <br />the previously set odte of October 23 is postponed, with the understanding that <br />a new date sometime between mid -November and the end of December will be set at <br />subsequent Board meeting. <br />John Maresh MOVED and Lucie Taylor seconded that the School Board adopt the <br />following handicapped access grievance procedure providing for a resolution of <br />complaints that may be filed against the district for alleged violations under <br />barriar free requirements as stipulated by the Department of Health, Education, <br />and Weifare: <br />
