ORONO PAU COMMISSION MIlTIhG <br />Aug. 1; 1989 <br />MINMS <br />The Park Commission net at 7 Pi( with the folwing in attendance: <br />Flint, yokel, Kelley, Vosgries, lrger and Bradley. Absent: Sweatt and Gilbert. <br />The minutes of the June 27th meeting were approved. <br />In the matter of the request from the Planning Commission fa: review *I <br />the Foxfyrs istates plat, the following were present: Nary L. Petersen, Owner; <br />Gerry Gitke, constractor; and Desyle Peterson, adjoining landover. After <br />examining and dicussing the feasibility of the proposed easement, the following <br />.,otion was made by Kelliiy, second by Vongries: <br />- C;ommisaio■ +opuses the establishment of a public easement from III <br />Turaha■ Read to the Luce Line T rsil for the following reasons: <br />(1) Due to tL. approximately 25 1 .t vertical drop to the Trail, [hare <br />\� caw.be ■o use of such easement without extensive grading; (2) Cre&ting <br />a public easement would invite more than neighborhood use and there is so <br />parking space available an public property; (3) There are public accesses <br />at grade level with public parking at Bederwood Park (2 miles last) and <br />on the West side of McCulley Road (sue mile West); (4) There is an f <br />existing privately -owned trail access used by the neighborhood .2 mile �! <br />lost. <br />The notion passed 5-1. <br />The request for as easement at Bederwood Park for installation of a <br />service cabinet by Northwestern Bell Telephone was discussed and tabled on <br />satins by Vougries. Motion passed. We will ask for Northwestern Bell to <br />consider other sites, and we will check their installation of a similar cabinet <br />at Old Crystal Bay and Watertown Roads. <br />After a brief dilcussioa, the proposed Park Dedication fee schedule was <br />laid over until the text meeting. We are vaiting for a report from the MN <br />League of Muuicipali�ies on the legality of our proposed amendments. <br />Joke Gerhardso• requestfd that we send a representative to the Orono <br />Community luducation Council meeting on August I4th. Les Kelley will attend. <br />Dick Flint asked why last Long Lake Rd. wasn't widened for a bike trail <br />vises blacktopped recently. Gerhardso■ acid the narrowness of part of the right- <br />of-way plus additional c,lato prvented a trail. Flint also asked Gerhardson <br />to check the possibility of using right-of-way on County Roai 6 for a bike trail. <br />The meeting adjou, 9:35 PM.
