COUNCIL MEETING '
SEP 2 51989
iTY OF ORONO
To: Mayor Grabek & Orono Council Members
City Administrator Bernhardson
From: Michael P. Gaffron, Asst Planning & Zoning Administrator
Date: September 20, 1989
Subject: #1454 Bradford W. Reddick, 2695 Pheasant Road -
Variance - Resolution
Zoning District - LR-1B, Single family lakeshore residential,
severed
Appliu tion - Request for side setback variance of 0.9' to
construct attached garage.
List of Exhibits
Exhibit A - Proposed Resolution
Exhibit B - Planning Commission Action Notice of 9/19/89
Exhibit C - Memo & Exhibits of 9/13/89
Discussion
Please review the memo and exhibits of September 13, 1989.
Briefly, the applicant is requesting a 0.9' side setback variance
in order to construct a garage 9.1' from the side lot line where
a 10' setback is required. The applicant would prefer to
construct the garage addition at the 22' width proposed, noting
that the house is not square with the lot lines, which results in
the need for a variance.
At their September 18th meeting, Planning Commission voted
5-1 to recommend approval. Planning Commissioner Bellows voted
nay, being of the opinion that the garage addition could be made
narrower in order to eliminate the need for a variance.
Staff hecoâ Qendation -
Staff recommends approval per the Planning Commission
recommendation. A resolution for approval is attached for
Council review.
