I <br />j <br />Zoning Administrator <br />City of Orono <br />PO Box 66 <br />Crustal Bay. r1N 55323 <br />Re: Zoning Variance 1374 Rest Point Read <br />The kindersigned property cvwners submit the following for a request for a variance <br />to construct a garage on our property at the abovâ–ş: adaress. In order to get the <br />garage blarlt in a manner that would not severely darnage or destroy a unique clump <br />or group of trees tsee enclosed pictures) W8 are asking for the following <br />variances: <br />SETBACK FROr1 THE ROAD - The distance from the road to the proposed <br />garage is approximately 33 feet at the corner of the proposed garage <br />closest to the house. To move the garage farther back from the street <br />would require cutting into the trees' root system significantly more <br />than the proposed site. <br />The group of trees is over 100 years old and each was planted to <br />celebrate the birth of a child in the family that constru tell the <br />initial home (cabin) on the site. That home has been added to over the <br />years and the loss of the group of trees would represent a significant <br />historical and economic loss. <br />SETBACK FROrl SIDE - For the above reasons .we also request a <br />variance to the north side of the property of 5 feet. <br />HARDCOVER ZONE - For the area of 75-250 feet we presently exceed <br />the 25% requirement (see attached :ur vey and hardcover calculation) <br />and constructing a garage will increase that percentage as shown. <br />We have a hardship in terms of the need for a garage because the <br />existing home does not have a garage or a basement. We have not <br />lived in the home on a year around basis but will be making this our, <br />permanent residence this year. <br />
