RESOLDTION IN OPPOSITION TO COUNTr ROAD 116 <br />BEING EXT—ENDED _FROM HIGaWAr 55 TO COQNTr ROAD SIX <br />WHEREAS, the City of Medina has contemplated <br />construction of a north/soulh route from Highway 55 to its <br />southern border in the approximate center of the community, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Medina under 5,000 population does <br />not qualify for Minnesota State Aid Roads, and <br />WHEREAS, the County has agreed to fund construction of <br />this road through its bonding funds for an -stimated total of <br />S2.9 million, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono having a population over <br />5,C11 -eceives its ou.• Municipal State aid monies, and <br />WHEREAS, although the County's standards for <br />construction of 116 would be similar to a revision of Willow done <br />by the City, the City is concerned about the negative impact of <br />increased traffic by construction of this route in Medina, and <br />WHERK&S, substantial opposition to this road in Medina <br />was made evident at the Orono Council's consideration of this <br />natter, and <br />WHEREAS, substantial opposition in Orono was generated <br />"o this proposal, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono realizes that the County has <br />lie legal right to designate and/or construct any or all ?ortions <br />- E the road it chooses to in the City of Orono. <br />NOW, THERBPORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of <br />ie City of Orono goes on record indicating to th^ County Board <br />.,d the City of Medin.z its opposition to construction of County <br />16 from Highway 55 to County Road Six. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the C' of Orono, <br />znesota at a regular meetin4 held February 13, 1 <br />a, - lt\,- <br />'(.1 :'SST: James R.
