AGENDA ITEM <br />Date: July 28, 2025 <br />Title: Summary Ordinance Publications, Ordinance 314 & 315 <br />Presenter: Laura Oakden, Community Development Director <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br />Purpose: <br />Adopt summary Ordinances 314 and & 315 for publication. <br />Item: 7 <br />2. Background: <br />The City Council adopted two new ordinances at the July 14, 2025 City Council Meeting (Agenda <br />Items 16 and 17) (Video). The full text ordinances were included in the council packet and <br />approved by the City Council: <br />1. LA25-000088, Text Amendment: Section 78-823 Garage Condo Standards, Ordinance 314 <br />2. LA25-000014, Text Amendment: Chapter 78 Animals, Ordinance 315 <br />Once an ordinance is adopted by the City Council, it must be published in the official news paper <br />(Laker Pioneer) before it is instituted into the City Code and applied. MN State Statue allows the <br />City to publish a summary ordinance so lengthy ordinances do not need to be published in their <br />entirety. A 4/5th vote by the Council is required to publish a summary ordinance. Only 3 members <br />of the City Council were present at the July 14th City Council meeting, not meeting the 4/5th <br />requirement. <br />3. Staff Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends approval of the summary ordinances <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to approve summary Ordinances 314 & 315 for publication. <br />Exhibits <br />A.
