ti <br />qq <br />N <br />§ 5.20.110 <br />ORONO CODE <br />Residential dwelling means any single build- <br />ing consisting of one through three dwelling <br />units with individual kitchen facilities for each. <br />(Code 1984, § 9.01(1); Code 2003, § 54-31) <br />Sec. 5.20.120. Storage. <br />(a) It is unlawful for any person to store <br />refuse on residential dwelling premises for more <br />than one week. All such storage shall be in five - <br />to 50-gallon metal or plastic containers with <br />tightfitting covers, which shall be maintained in <br />a clean and sanitary condition. Tree leaves, <br />weeds and grass clippings may be stored in <br />plastic bags and tree limbs must be stored in <br />bundles weighing no more than 75 pounds and <br />no longer than four feet. <br />(b) It is unlawful for any person to store <br />refuse on multiple dwelling premises for more <br />than one week. Such storage shall be in contain- <br />ers as for residential dwelling premises; except <br />that containers, sometimes referred to as <br />dumpsters, with closefitting covers may be <br />substituted. <br />(c) It is unlawful for any person to store <br />refuse on commercial establishment premises for <br />more than 48 hours. Such storage shall be in <br />containers as for residential dwelling premises; <br />except that containers, sometimes referred to as <br />dumpsters, with closefitting covers may be <br />substituted. <br />(d) It is unlawful to store organic refuse unless <br />it is drained and wrapped. <br />(e) All refuse and garbage deposited in contain- <br />ers for pickup shall not be stored in the area <br />between the street and the front plane of the <br />house or garage on non -collection days or shall <br />be kept within a building. Refuse must be <br />deposited at one place, at ground level, on each <br />property. Refuse containers must be returned <br />and placed to the storage location on the same <br />day that the garbage or refuse is collected. The <br />intent of this subsection is to allow placement at <br />the curb only on the evening prior to and the day <br />of collection of the garbage or refuse container. <br />(Code 1984, § 9.01(2); Code 2003, § 54-32; Ord. <br />No. 302(3rd series), § 1, 4-8-2024) <br />Sec. 5.20.130. Deposit. <br />It is unlawful for any person to deposit in the <br />city any refuse from any source, rubbish, offal or <br />the body of a dead animal in any place other <br />than a licensed sanitary landfill. <br />(Code 1984, § 9.01(3); Code 2003, § 54-33) <br />Sec. 5.20.140. Fire danger. <br />It is unlawful for any person to store, deposit <br />or dispose of any refuse which is in flames or <br />heated to the point where it could cause danger <br />of fire in other refuse. <br />(Code 1984, § 9.01(4); Code 2003, § 54-34) <br />ARTICLE III. PRIVATE COLLECTORS* <br />Division 1. Generally <br />Sec. 5.20.210. Definitions. <br />The definitions in Minn. Exception. <br />Nothing in this article shall prevent persons <br />from hauling garbage or other refuse from their <br />own residences or business properties, provided <br />the following rules are observed: <br />(1) That all garbage is hauled in containers <br />that are watertight on all sides and the <br />bottom and with tightfitting covers on <br />top; <br />(2) That all other refuse is hauled in vehicles <br />with leakproof bodies and completely <br />covered or enclosed by canvas or other <br />means or material so as to completely <br />eliminate the possibility of loss of cargo; <br />and <br />(3) That all garbage and other refuse shall <br />be dumped or unloaded only at the <br />designated sanitary landfill. <br />(Code 1984, § 5.35(3); Code 2003, § 54-67) <br />*State law reference —Mandatory that city provide for <br />solid waste collection, Minn.
