<br /> <br /> <br />Minutes <br />City Council Work Session <br />Monday, June 9, 2025, 5:00 PM <br />City Council Chambers | 2780 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />City Council members present: Mayor Bob Tunheim, City Council Members Alisa Benson, <br />Jacqueline Ricks, and Jon Schwingler. Absent: Steve Persian <br /> <br />Staff present: City Administrator Adam Edwards, Community Development Director Laura Oakden. <br /> <br /> <br />REVIEW COUNCIL GOALS AND PRIORITIES (PART 2) <br /> <br />Administrator Edwards reviewed action items from the previous work session and detailed <br />enhancements to the customer service process with the new key step of including all council in <br />staff’s follow up of requests, concerns, and complaints initially submitted to council. <br /> <br />Topics the group discussed included prioritization of resources for customer service <br />improvements, strategies for environmental protection and tree canopy management, assessment <br />of park needs and planning, development and use of short videos as a new communications tool, <br />budget and levy planning process, review of capital needs for city facilities, and possible <br />adjustments to work session scheduling. <br /> <br />The group directed staff to strengthen interagency collaboration and expand public education <br />efforts around water and shoreland preservation priorities, including guidance such as a <br />recommended species list. <br /> <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Work session ended at 5:51 p.m. <br /> <br />ATTEST: CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> <br />_____________________________________ ___________________________________ <br />Christine Lusian, City Clerk Bob Tunheim, Mayor <br />4
