AGENDA ITEM <br />Date: May 27, 2025 <br />Title: Resignation and Recruitment - Public Works Maintenance Worker <br />Presenter: DJ Goman, Public Works Superintendent <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br />Item: 4 <br />Purpose: <br />The purpose of the action item is to accept the resignation of Public Works Maintenance Worker <br />Clint Schumann and inform council of the recruitment process to fill the vacancy created. <br />2. Background: <br />A. Clint Schumann was hired September 28, 2015. Clint submitted a letter of resignation on <br />May 20, 2025. Clint's last day will be May 30, 2025. The Public Works Department wishes <br />Clint the best of luck in all of his future endeavors and thanks him for his 10 years service to <br />the City of Orono. <br />B. The Public Works Department currently has 5 Full -Time Public Works Maintenance Worker <br />positions with one opening. The Public Works Maintenance Worker positions are critical to <br />meet current service needs and are essential to City operations. <br />3. Recruitment: <br />The selection process for the position involves advertising the position, application screening, <br />interviews by Public Works Supervisor and Maintenance Worker staff and practical exercise <br />testing. The process will also include a background check, reference checks and new hire drug <br />testing. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to accept the resignation of Clint Schumann effective May 30, 2025 and authorize staff to begin <br />the recruitment process. <br />29 <br />
