<br /> <br /> <br /> Created: 2025-02-26 08:25:01 [EST] <br />(Supp. No. 21) <br /> <br />Page 2 of 27 <br />(1) Farm animals kept in accordance with chapter 78; <br />(2) Animals kept as part of a show licensed under this Code; <br />(3) Animals used in a parade for which a permit has been issued; <br />(4) Animals kept in a laboratory for scientific or experimental purposes; or <br />(5) Animals kept in an animal hospital or clinic for treatment by a licensed veterinarian. <br />(Code 1984, § 9.13(2)) <br />Sec. 62-4. Animals in transit. <br />It is unlawful for any person to transport animals unless they are: <br />(1) Confined within a vehicle, cage or other means of conveyance; <br />(2) Farm animals being transported in a portion of the city zoned for rural purposes; or <br />(3) Restrained by means of bridles, halters, ropes or other means of individual restraint. <br />(Code 1984, § 9.13(3)) <br />Cross reference(s)—Traffic and vehicles, ch. 66. <br />Sec. 62-5. Housing. <br />It is unlawful for any person to keep any animal in any structure infested by rodents, vermin, flies or insects. <br />(Code 1984, § 9.13(5)) <br />Sec. 62-6. Trespasses. <br />It is unlawful for any person to herd, drive or ride any animal over and upon any grass, turf, boulevard, city <br />park, cemetery, garden or lot without specific permission from the owner. <br />(Code 1984, § 9.13(6)) <br />Sec. 62-7. Regulation of horses. <br />(a) The term "horse" as used in this section means any breed of horse, pony, mule or ass. <br />(b) It is unlawful for any person to ride or to drive a horse after the hour of sunset and before the hour of sunrise <br />along or crossing any public way without appropriate lighting or reflectorized clothing. <br />(c) It is unlawful for any person to ride or drive a horse in any public park, beach, golf course or other public <br />property, except within the right-of-way of public streets and highways, and in areas duly designated as <br />trailways or hitching areas. <br />(d) The city administrator shall designate and signpost those areas in public lands, parks and beaches where <br />horses may be ridden and driven. <br />(e) Every person riding a horse or driving a horse-drawn vehicle upon a public street shall be subject to those <br />provisions of this Code applicable to the driver of a motor vehicle, except those provisions which by their <br />nature can have no application. <br />91
