Item 12
Additional
'Public
From: Mike Anderson Comment
To: Bob Tunheim;Alisa Benson;Claire Berrett;Steve Persian;Laura Oakden;Melanie Curtis; Matthew Karnev; Katie
Fitzsimmons
Subject: RE:LA24-000054
Date: Monday,April 28,2025 3:27:49 PM
Good Afternoon,
We are not opposed to developing that piece of land, however we have concerns about the
proposed development which are primarily about safety and ask that they be taken into
account before a decision is made.
I'm concerned about the safety of children. There are children walking/biking to and from
school daily that use the adjacent sidewalk. This type of facility shouldn't be developed so
close to a school. There are also dozens of children who live across the street who use the
sidewalks. The Orono Preserve will inevitably become a"turnaround" for the short term
construction traffic and long term vehicle traffic.
I'm concerned about the increased traffic and noise, specifically the speed and sound of the
types of vehicles being stored at these facilities. Additionally, events at the facilities have the
potential to cause further disruption to an otherwise peaceful community.
I'm concerned about drunk driving that could occur after the events mentioned above. Think
James David Blue.
I'm concerned about the police resources necessary to enforce speed and noise violations.
Sincerely,
Mike Anderson
Resident of Orono Preserve
