MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE SCHOOL <br />OF ORONO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />HELD ON APRIL 24, 1989 <br />The regular meeting of the School Board of Orono Independent School District No. <br />278 was held on Monday, April 24, 1989. <br />Present: David McKown <br />Don Anderson <br />Kitty Crosby <br />James Franklin <br />John Maresh <br />Lucie Taylor <br />Thomas Mich <br />William Fenholt <br />UPON MOTION by Lucie Taylor, seconded by John Maresh, the consent agenda was <br />approved as follows: <br />- approved the minutes of the March 15,1989 <br />- approved the minutes of the March 21.1989 <br />- approved the minutes of the <br />Apri 1 11.1989 <br />regular <br />special <br />special <br />meeting; <br />meeting; <br />meeting; <br />approved the following coaches for spring sports: A1 Kreb, head baseball <br />coach; Brian Bergstrom, assistant baseball coach; Kevin Sharpe, <br />assistant baseball coach; Scott Zeidler, assistant softball coach; Amy <br />Luesebrink, assistant softball coach; Chandra Mallampalli, assistant <br />tennis coach; Liz Young, head track coach; Kevin Rose, assistant track <br />coach; Bill Greenwood, assistant track coach; <br />approved Nancy Thayer's request for a one year leave of absence commencing <br />June 30, 1989; <br />accepted the resignation of Jann L. Van Airsdale, special education <br />teacher at Schumann Elementary School, effective at the end of the <br />1988-89 school year; <br />Report for February and March, 1989; <br />- - . ___ Report for the third quarter, 1988-89; <br />approved the bills as covered by vouchers 062347 through 062558 and 061530 <br />through 061719. <br />approved <br />approved <br />Or. Mich reported that ' teachers, Dave McKown, Marge Gasch and he had been <br />In attendance at a ral ly to:' }ght, sponsored by AMSD, at the Capitol supporting <br />funding for suburban school districts and he also provided them with infornation <br />on property tax changes from 1980-81 through 1987-88; that the middle school <br />dance unit was concluded with a "dress up day" last week and it was a great suc­ <br />cess; that six candidates are now being interviewed for the high school prin- <br />cipalship; that a staff development day was held on April 14 with a presentation <br />from the business community given by David Crosby, George Dixon and Bill Lurion, <br />a session on nutrition and a session on the right to privacy act; that ne con­ <br />ducted the Elements of Effective Instruction workshop on April 11 and 12; that <br />on April 12 and 13 Dr. Ernest Stachowski worked with the administrators on <br />supervision of teachers; that the position of principal of Orono Primary School <br />has been posted and applications will be taken until May 15; that the prom will <br />be held on May 12 at the Lafayette Club; that a workshop should be held on May 8 <br />on the mission statement and goals; that he wanted to review the comolaint pro­ <br />cedure with the Board as this was requested at the Teacher Meet and Confer <br />meeting.
