Seventy-two percent <br />rate the quality highly, while only 14% are more critical. <br />In rating the general value of city services in terms of property taxes paid, nine percent give <br />services a rating of Excellent," and 67% rate them as Good." Critical judgments —'only fair" or <br />Poor" — are a relatively low 23%. A decisive 82%-10% margin opposes an increase of city <br />property taxes to enhance current city services or offer additional city services. This margin is in <br />line with the results in neighboring suburbs. The small percentage of tax increase supporters <br />would enhance "street repair," "fire services" and "water and sewer services." <br />Part of the antipathy to a tax increase can be attributed to current opinions of city property taxes. <br />Seventy-nine percent, a very high percentage, regard Orono property taxes to be either "very <br />high" or "somewhat high."
