ssHEa <br />XU pR 11869 <br />Joe and Sandy Rauschendorfer <br />3895 Shorline Drive <br />Wayzata, Minnesota 55391 <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL <br />Ref: Variance Request #1261 <br />On 3/20/89 our variance request was reviewed by the Orono Planning Commission. <br />The variances discussed are as follows: <br />1) Replace foundation - a major portion of the foundation is within the 0-75* <br />hard cover zone. <br />2) A west property line variance to allow for a double attached garage. <br />3) A lake-side variance to allow for a 4’ extension. This extension is within <br />the 0-75* hard cover zone. <br />Item 1 was recommended for approval. Items 2&3 were not recommended for <br />approval. Upon further review we have determined that item 3 is not critical to our <br />improvement plans and we wish to withdraw that request. <br />Wc feel items 1&2 are critical to our improvement plans. With Item 1 being <br />recommended for approval, I will now focus on our need for Item 2. <br />The changes made to County Rd 15 have impacted this property in the following <br />negative ways: <br />1) We are no longer allowed on-street parking. To facilitate our parking <br />needs we were required to move a storage shed from the west side of the <br />property. We now park our cars in the previous storage shed area. The <br />storage shed is now less secure in that it is closer to the street and also <br />due to increased pedestrian traffic due to the new sidewalk. <br />Greater pedestrian traffic has increased our overall need for <br />security. This would mostly include our cars and storage shed. <br />greater <br />Since the <br />improvements to County Rd 15 one of our cars has been damaged with a <br />broken rear window. <br />Other considerations are: <br />After our first review with the Planning Commission we were led to <br />believe that if we altered our plans to remain 10 ’ from the adjoining <br />building we could build the garage with a 4* variance. We made our
