MINUTBS OF THE PIAMNIEG COHNISSION MEETING FEBRUARY 21, 1989 <br />ZONING FILE il378-OSTROM CONTINUED <br />With respect to Kelley's concerns about the closeness of the <br />neighboring residence# Mr. Ugurbil explained that there was <br />dense vegetation that would screen the addit .on from view. Mr. <br />Ugurbil further added that placing the addition in another <br />location would either interfere with an existing porch or with <br />the natural "Minnesota farm-character" architecture which was a <br />main reason he purchased the house. <br />The Planning Commission, as a whole# c ' jurred with Kelley's <br />views that the addition would encroach too closely to the <br />adjacent property to the west. Planning Commissioner Brown <br />reiterated his belief that there were other alternatives. <br />There were no comments from the public regarding this matter <br />and the public hearing was closed (Planning Commissioner Bellows <br />departed at this time). <br />It was moved by Chairman Kelley# seconded by Planning <br />Commissioner Cohen# to deny the variance for the sideyard setback <br />for #1370# Curtis Ostrom. Motion# Ayes»5# Nays»0, Motion passed. <br />#1381 JACK RHODE <br />1690 SHADYMOOD ROAD <br />VARIANCES <br />PUBLIC HEARING 8:39 P.M. - 8:45 P.M. <br />The Affidavit of Publication and Certificate of Mailing were <br />duly noted. <br />The applicant was present for this matter. <br />Zoning Administrator Mabusth stated that this application <br />involved a setback for new construction within the 0-75' setback <br />area# as well as a hardcover variance for new construction. Even <br />though there is a reduction in hardcover in the 0-75' zone# <br />variance approval for new construction is required. The proposed <br />structure will be 61* from the lakeshore. The second story# <br />2-foot wide# deck# will be 59* from the lakeshore. The <br />overall reduction of hardcover in the 0-75' area will be 3%. <br />Chairman Kelley questioned whether the entire existing <br />structure would be removed. Mabusth replied that yes it would
