Transportation matters and one of its most impoortant functions is to annually determine FAU projects funding priority.THE AMN BOARD IS SOLICITING NOMINATIONS FOR THIS VACANCY VIA THIS BULLETIN AND WRITTEN NOMINATIONS SHOULD BE FORWARDED TO THE AMM OFFICE, ATTENTION OF VERN PETERSON, BY NO LATER THAN <br />THURSDAY DECEMBER 17TH. <br />3. LEGISLATIVE CONTACT PROGRAM FOR 1991: <br />The Legislative contact System first initiated for the 1988 <br />Legislative Session and expanded for subsequent sessions has <br />been designated as a high prio. ity by the AMM Board for the <br />1991 Session which convenes on January 8th. This program under <br />the leadership of AMM Vice-President Bob Long and Boardmember <br />Bill Barnhart is expected to be a major component of the AMM's <br />Legislative Lobbying strategy for the 1991 session. As you may <br />know, the primary objective of the Legislative Contact System <br />is to get member city officials directly involved in the AMM's <br />lobbying effort by having them contact local Legislators on key <br />city issues in a timely fashion prior to and throughout the <br />session. <br />The first step in the process is for each member city to <br />designate a Legislative Contact Person or to confirm that your <br />1990 contact person will again serve in that capacity. <br />WE WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF EACH CITY MANAGER OR ADMINISTRATOR <br />WOULD CONTACT ROGER PETERSON IN THE AMM OFFICE (227-4008) AS <br />SOON AS POSSIBLE AND CONFIRM WHO YOUR CITY'S LEGISLATIVE <br />CONTACT IS GOING TO BE FOR THE 1991 SESSION. <br />The contact program is essential for the AMM's success and we <br />\2j^g0 you to give this matter immediate attention. Attached is <br />a brief description of the duties and responsibilities of a <br />Legislative Contact person. <br />4. 1991 AMM LEGISLATIVE SESSION PRIORITIES: <br />The AMM Board in early January will establish the final <br />legislative policy priorities for the 1991 session. Straw <br />ballots were sent to all member cities in October, as you may <br />recall, giving member city officials, the opportunity to <br />provide input into the priority setting process. The ballots <br />were collected at the policy adoption meeting on November 1st. <br />The seven highest policy priorities as voted by the member city <br />officials are: Neighborhood Liveability, Levy Limit repeal, <br />LGA continuation, TIF restoration, Metro Tax, Homestead Class <br />Rates and Property Tax reform. <br />The AMM's Legislative Coordinating Committee will review the <br />-2-
