It should be menL.t..ied that during the review of the expert <br />transportation people in the area who bring the kind of <br />credentials that would be most valuable they are also the ones <br />who work with the Minnesota Department of Transportation and <br />their acting as a principle advocate for the City may put them in <br />a difficult position with MnDOT in other areas. If however, <br />they are in a background role providing technical expertise to an <br />expert that may be a position that would most appropriate. <br />Given the unknown initial scope of the work it is estimated that <br />the City would work with a $5,000 budget and work to develop a <br />work program in light of the current schedule presented by the <br />consultant from that work projects for the transportation <br />component would be determined. <br />ALTERNATIVES - <br />Issue #1 “ Accept the information. <br />Issue #2 - <br />1. Make any comments on the proposal. <br />2. Adopt draft as initial submission. <br />3. Table for further discussion. <br />4. Schedule a workshop meeting on these issues. <br />Issue #3 2 Expert Assistance <br />1. Engage Dahlgren Shardlow s Uban as the outside <br />assistant and utilize a transportation consultant <br />on an as needed basis <br />2. Engage separate land use and transportation <br />consultants. <br />3. Select either a transportation or land use consultant <br />4. Table for further discussion. <br />5. Take no action. <br />RECOMMENDATION - It is recommended that the City work to develop <br />with Dahlgren Shardlow & Uban a work program with an initial <br />budget not to exceed $5,000. Any increase over this would be <br />brought back for Council review and authorization.
