For the purpose of determining light and ventilation <br />requirements, any room may be considered as portion of an adjoining <br />room when 1/2 of the area of the common wall is open and unobstructed <br />and provides an opening of not less than 1/10 of the f loor area of the <br />interior room or 25 sq. ft., whichever is greater. Sec. 1205-a. <br />60. Ceiling heights in habitable rooms, shall be not less than 7' 6". <br />Other rooms may have ceiling height of not less than 7' measured to <br />lowest projection. Sec. 1207-a. <br />61. A water closet compartment shall be not less than 30 inches in <br />width and shall provide a clear space in front of the water closet not <br />less than 241. Sec. 511-a. <br />62. Every dwelling unit shall be provided with an app�oved smoke <br />detector conforming to UBC Std. #43-6. They shall be mounted on the <br />ceiling or a wall at a point centrally located in the corridor or area <br />giving access to rooms used for sleeping purposes. All detectors <br />shall be located within 12" of the ceiling. Sec. 1210-a. <br />63. Every dwelling unit shall be provided with heating facilities <br />capable of maintaining a room temperature of 70 degrees at a point 3 <br />ft above the floor in all habitable rooms. Sec. 1211. <br />64. All weather exposed surfaces, shall have a weather resistive <br />barrier to protect the interior wall. Sec. 1707-a. <br />65. Exterior openings exposed to the weather shall be flashed in such <br />a manner as to make them weatherproof. Sec. 1707-b. <br />66. All flashing, counter flashing, and coping when of metal shall be <br />not less than i26 gauge corrosion resistant metal. Sec. 1707-b. <br />67. Shower areas shall have a smooth, hard nonabsorbent surface such <br />as ceramic tile, to a height of not less than 6 feet. Materials other <br />than structural elements used in such walls shall be of a type not <br />adversely affected by moisture. Sec. 510-b. <br />68. Glazing used in door ad panels of shower and bathtub enclosures <br />shall be fully tempered, laminated saftey glass, or approved plastic <br />3/16' min. thickness when fully tempered or 1/4' when laminated. Sec. <br />5406 -c -d. <br />69. Plastics used in doors and panels of shower and bathtub <br />enclosures shall be of a shater-resistant type. Sec. 5406-c. <br />70. Glazing in location which may be subject to human impact such as <br />frameless glass doors, glass entrances and exit doors, fixed glass <br />panels, sliding glass doors, shower doors, tub enclosures, and storm <br />doors shall meet the requirements set forth in UBC Standards No. 54-2. <br />
