"` L. <br /> WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes � Section 412.221 and Section 387.03 <br /> ' grants to cities and counties the separate power to provide for the <br /> � government and good order of their cities and counties for the <br /> prevention of crime, for the protection of public and private property, <br /> and for the promotion of the health, safety and welfare of their <br /> - residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Joint Powers Act, Minnesota Statutes Section 471 .59, <br /> permits cities and counties to jointly and cooperatively exercise <br /> any powers common to each, including those powers which are the same <br /> except for the territorial limits in which they may be exercised. <br /> � NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br /> Orono that the Joint Powers Agreement for Inter-Agency Special <br /> Investigation Squad attached hereto is approved and adopted hereby and <br /> the Mayor of the City of Orono is authorized and empowered <br /> hereby to enter into it. <br /> �� <br /> , Mayor <br /> ATTE5T: <br /> ' � ,.
