Bernhardson, City Administrato <br />DATE: January 3, 1990 <br />SUBJECT: Police Lieutenant Selection <br />COUNCIL r^lEFJING <br />JAH 81990 <br />GITV ffP f'priwfi <br />ISSUE - Appointment of the third Lieutenant in the Police <br />Department. <br />INTRODUCTION - Following the process outlined at the Council's <br />October 23rd meeting, the six candidates participated in the <br />selection process. Of those, four had a final interview with the <br />Chief and myself. Those participating in the process were: <br />Chip English <br />Mark Tomczyk <br />Bruce Anderson <br />Larry Tomcheck <br />Mark Fritzler <br />James Morowczynski <br />Based on this, it is my recommendation that Mark Fritzler be <br />appointed to the position of third Lieutenant effective 1 <br />February, 1990. <br />(Because of a change in State law the psychological exam, which <br />was for the final two candidates, can not be given until the <br />candidate has been offered the position. This was a <br />requiremented passed by the Legislature at the request of the <br />State Human Rights Department.) <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by _j seconded by _, to appoint _ _ to <br />the third Lieutenant position effective 1 February, 1990, <br />contingent on passage of a psychological exam, at a starting <br />salary at a $.40/hr differential higher than his current patrol <br />rate.
