Gerhardson, Public Works Director <br />Date: August 24, 1990 <br />Subject: Disposal of City Property <br />35. <br />COUHCiL MEETIflG <br />AUG2? 1990 <br />CITY OF ORl <br />Currently the City of Orono owns a 1980 Ford LTD that is <br />used by the Public Works Director. <br />The vehicle has approximately 150,000 miles and has had <br />several costly breakdowns within the last three months. The most <br />recent breakdown included the need to replace the water pump. <br />The estimated cost of the repairs is $150.00. The estimated <br />value of the vehicle is $400.00. <br />Typically the City disposes of vehicles through the Hennepin <br />County Auction which is usually in the spring of the year. <br />Storage of the vehicle until spring is a problem due to shortage <br />of space and security. <br />We can dispose of the vehicle by selling to the highest <br />bidder once the vehicle is designated Surplus Property. In <br />addition to disposing of the vehicle, the Police Department has <br />experienced damage to confiscated or found bicycles in the Public <br />Works storage building. The damages to the bicycles are a result <br />of the leaking roof at the lumber yard storage building which has <br />caused rusting of the bicycles beyond repair. <br />RecoHMendation To approve of designating one 1980 Ford LTD and <br />14 bicycles as Surplus Property. The 1980 Ford will be sold to <br />the highest bidder and the bicycles will be destroyed. <br />Proposed Notion Moved_ _ _ _ _ _ 2nd to approve designating <br />one 1980 Ford LTD and 14 bicycles as Surplus property and that <br />the 1980 Ford be sold to the highest bidder and destroy the 14 <br />bicycles. <br />Mayor Grabek & Orono City Council <br />Mark E.
