League of Minnesota Cities <br />July 19, 1990 <br />183 University Ave. East <br />St Paul, MN 55101-2526 <br />(612) 227-5600 (FAX: 221-0986) <br />TO: Mayor) <br />FROM; Don <br />OM, Mai <br />RE: <br />Managers, Clerks <br />Slater, Executive Director <br />Registration for 1990 NLC Congress of Cities <br />Enclosed please find a copy of the program and registration materials <br />for the 1990 NLC Congress of cities. The annual conference of the <br />National League of Cities will be held in Houston, Texas, December <br />1-5. Please complete and submit conference registration and request <br />for hotel accommodations as soon as possible. Note the important <br />information regarding registration deadlines and procedures for hotel <br />room deposits and hotel reservation guarantees in the instructions. <br />IMPORTANT REGISTRATION DEADLINES <br />Deadline for early registration (at reduced rates) is September 14. <br />The last date for advance registration is October 31. After that <br />date, you may not be able to obtain hotel accommodations at the rates <br />quoted in the brochure. LMC will mail information on available <br />airline flights to Houston to all NLC direct member cities within the <br />next week. You may also obtain a copy of the travel information by <br />contacting Ann Higgins at the League office, (612) 227-5600. <br />All conference sessions and meal functions, including the banquet, <br />will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center (See "A** on map <br />inside NLC brochure.) Hotels located in the Galleria section will be <br />the location of many of the receptions and other social functions held <br />during the conference (#'s 10, 15, 16, and 10). No conference-related <br />activities have been scheduled in the five hotels located closest to <br />the convention center, although they are convenient to the site of the <br />conference programs. There will be shuttle transportation available <br />from hotel properties located farthest from the convention center. <br />DIRECT NLC MEMBERSHIP AND PARTICIPATION <br />Minnesota city officials actively take part in NLC programs and policy <br />development. At present, a total of 49 cities in Minnesota are direct <br />members of the National League of Cities. If your city has not joined <br />NLC, please contact Ann Higgins for information on membership dues and <br />ser\'ices.
