LMCD BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />f) Low Water Safety Progr^lffl (UFO) <br />April 25, 1990 <br />Reese explained a low water safety program to identify <br />Underwater Found Obstructions (UFO) through the use of temporary <br />low water danger buoys. Persons so finding UFOs would advise the <br />LMCD office. <br />Slocum moved, Bjorlin seconded, to implement the UFO <br />program, approving a $3,500 expenditure from the Save the Lake <br />reserve to purchase buoys, chains and anchors, LMCD weed <br />harvesting personnel to do the installation under the direction <br />of Paurus. Motion carried unanimously. <br />g) Water Patrol Report <br />Chandler reported the Johnson/Holiday crappie contest was <br />well attended and created no problems with no moving violations <br />by the contestants. <br />The * ling program on report writing and court handling of <br />citations . eseāited by LMCD prosecuting attorney Steve <br />Tallen,Holmes & Graven, was well received. <br />Inspections of charter boats and rental boats is underway. <br />D. Executive Director's Report, Eugene Strommen <br />1) Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCMR) <br />The executive director reported he and Chair Cochran mot <br />with Michael Markell, MN DNR, to revise the Plan on Public <br />Access. They developed a revision which was submitted to the <br />Board. The MNDNR is interested in seeing this plan developed. <br />Markell would be the Program Manager and LMCD would act as local <br />sponsoring agency. This fits in with Management Plan recommended <br />objectives. <br />The grant application for Managing Mearshore Use on <br />Minnesota Lakes will be done independently rather than merged <br />with any other agency. The application to produce a fishing <br />guide has not been responded on by the LCMR. <br />Hurr reported none of the LMCD proposals were recommended <br />for funding at this time by the Citizen Review Committees.
