LMCD BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />g) Other <br />April 25, 1990 <br />The executive director conimented on Norm Paurus work, <br />stating he has secured contribution of space for parts and <br />equipment storage at no cost to the District. <br />C. 2) WATER STRUCTURES, Chair Grathwol <br />a) Grathwol moved, Reese seconded, approval of <br />the 4-7-90 minutes, amending heading and paragraph 2, page 2, <br />line 2: delete reference to "new dock license and" since the new <br />dock license for change of ownership was approved by the Board 3- <br />28-90. Motion carried unanimously. <br />b) City <br />License. <br />of Doephaven New Dock and Special Density <br />The Board considered the results of the public hearing held <br />on 4-25-90 at 7 p.m. to consider the City of Deephaven new dock <br />and special density license for 8 new Boat Storage Units at Bay <br />St. Louis, for a new total of 218 BSU. There were no objections <br />from the public to the increase. <br />Grathwol moved, Boswinkel seconded, approval of new and <br />special density license for 8 new Boat Storage Units at Bay St. <br />Louis, subject to preparation and distribution of an <br />Environmental Assessment Worksheet. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Gerald Laughlin was informed the EAW will be prepared, <br />returned to the Board for approval and then distributed to a <br />stipulated list of interested parties. It requires at least 45 <br />days to process it after submission to the Environmental Quality <br />Board. <br />Maxwell Bay/Lakeside Marina Temporary <br />Variance. <br />Low Water <br />The Water Structures Committee recommended approval of a <br />temporary low water variance to 600’ from the 929.4’ shoreline <br />for Maxwell Bay/Lakeside Marina with use of floating docks in the <br />exact same configuration as the permanent docks. Ilurr reported <br />the owner has made application to the City of Orono with action <br />scheduled for their next meeting. Grathwol acknowledged a letter <br />dated 4/6 from Gayle Wittig, Gayle’s Marina, objecting to the <br />extension proposal. <br />LeFevere commented that 600’ is three times the dock length <br />called for in the code and expressed concern about infringing on <br />neighboring dock use areas. He noted the side setback <br />requirement in the Code of Ordinances does not extend beyond <br />200’. Cochran responded there would be a stipulation in approval <br />that the setback must be met for the full length of the dock, <br />namely 20’ beyond 200’. <br />James Dunn, owner of Maxwell Bay/Lakeside Properties Marina, <br />displayed an aerial presentation of the area showing water depths <br />to 600’.
