I MINUTES OF m MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD <br />OF ORONO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 278 <br />HELD ON APRIL 9, 1990 <br />The regular meeting of the School Board of Orono Independent School District No. <br />278 was held on Monday, April 9, 1990. <br />Present;Dave McKown <br />Don Anderson <br />Kitty Crosby <br />James Franklin <br />John Maresh <br />Lucie Taylor <br />Thomas Mich <br />William Fenholt <br />Dave McKown stated that the following two agenda items under New Business will <br />be moved to the beginning of the meeting; staffing for 1990-91 and settlement of <br />the claims of an employee. <br />UPON MOTION by Jim Franklin, seconded by Lucie Taylor, the consent agenda was <br />approved as follows; <br />- approved the minutes of the March 12, 1990 regular meeting; <br />- approved the minutes of the March 19, 1990 special meeting; <br />- accepted the resignation of Nancy Thayer Tomlinson, secretary to the <br />Schumann Elementary principal, effective June 30, 1990; <br />- approved the appointment of Sue Kueppers to the position of Orono Middle <br />School Assistant to the Principal beginning July 1, 1990; <br />- approved the bills as covered by vouchers 065615 through 065741 and <br />building construction bills as covered by vouchers 1000 through 1015; <br />- agreed to contribute $200.00 to the Orono Education Association to offset <br />costs of the recognition/retirement breakfast held at the end of the <br />school year. <br />Dr. Mich stated that he wanted to extend congratulations to Mr. Doug Erickson <br />who has been named Teacher of the Year; that he wanted to express congra <br />tulations to Sue Kueppers on her appointment as assistant to the principal at <br />the middle school and that he looks forward to working with her; that on May 15 <br />the National Honor Society induction and the scholarship awards night will take place <br />place at the high school and that the Board meeting will take place following <br />that as It Is school board election day; that the last construction bids will be <br />taken on April 10 and he would recommend the Board hold a special meeting on <br />Thursday, April 12 at 7;00 a.m. to accept the recommended electical bid. <br />UPON MOTION by Kitty Crosby, seconded by John Maresh, a special Board meeting <br />was set for Thursday, April 12 at 7;00 a.m. to accept the recommended electrical <br />bid. <br />Or. Mich provided the Board with an update on the requests for usage of School <br />District property. He recommended that the Board schedule a workshop session <br />for the purpose of exploring all Issues relating to this land usage. The Board <br />will hold a workshop session on April 30. <br />Dr Mich reminded the Board that the Junior Senior Prom will be held on May 11 at <br />the Calhoun Club.
