The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br />Leads the city’s inflow and infiltration (I&I) reduction efforts to include sewer lining, <br />manhole sealing and the service line point of sale inspection program. Assists in the coordination <br />of the MS4 program. <br />Inspects and supervises the repair of water and wastewater treatment equipment, booster <br />pumping stations, reservoir, towers, meters, and sewer system at frequent intervals to ensure that <br />all aspects of the systems are functioning properly. <br />Enforces safety procedures and coordinates safety trainings/safety meetings; investigates <br />accidents and incidents. <br />Receives and responds to a variety of requests and complaints. <br />Manages the cities response to Gopher State locate requests. <br />Manages procurement of utilities materials and services as well as coordinating <br />contracted maintenance projects for City utility infrastructure. <br />Ensures the city’s utility records and GIS system are up to date by recording utility <br />system infrastructure in the City’s GIS and records keeping systems. <br />Represents division, department and city at various meetings and provides technical <br />assistance covering utilities issues. <br />Annually prepares and updates the draft multi-year capital improvement plan and <br />program to address the City's utility infrastructure development, maintenance and replacement <br />needs. <br />Participates in the development and review of utility projects; participates in preparation <br />of specifications; participates in the review of all site plans and improvements; writes or <br />participates in the preparation of various reports. <br />Assists to develop an annual budget covering all functions of the Utilities Division, and <br />monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with the budget. <br />Provides supervision (evaluate, coaches, counsels, disciplines, and directs), training, and <br />technical direction and support to Utility division staff. Participates in the interview and <br />selection of utility maintenance workers. Conducts formal employee performance evaluations. <br />Operates equipment of various sizes and weights in loading, hauling and unloading <br />various equipment or materials. <br />Is subject to afterhours calls for emergency utility repairs and as part of the City’s snow <br />removal operations <br />Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned. <br />Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities <br />Knowledge: <br />Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, <br />and maintenance. <br />Thorough knowledge of SCADA system use and operation in municipal systems. <br />Public Safety and Security — Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, <br />and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the <br />protection of people, data, property, and institutions. <br />Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing <br />customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting <br />quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. <br />78
