TSP/ADG
The structural floor slab has now been poured. The
concrete beams, which spans across the garage, tie the
pilasters together at the top. The pilasters also
resist the bending due to the d `ferential soil
pressure against the wall. The rear wall is actually
four (4) wall segments placed between pilasters or end
walls. The lower twelve (12) courses of the block wal'_
segments remained integral with the pilasters and the
footing which was placed on engineered fill. The lower
wall segments are, therefore, stabilized at the bottom
at the footing, along the sides at the pilasters, and
are tied to the top portion of the wall with
reinforcing bars grouted in place.
The top courses of block are tied into the floor slab
by these reinforcing bars. The floor slab extends on
to the concrete block walls about 8". This provides a
connection which is semi-rigid.
After my further review of the situation, I am
reassured that the procedures which I outlined are
adequate to stabilize the wall.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to
ca'.1.
TSP/ADG
JKL/LS9777A
P.
