A RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ORONO REGARDING <br />THE DETACHMENT OF CERTAIN PROPERTY FROM <br />THE CITY OF ORONO TO THE CITY OF LONG LAKE <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono, Hennepin County, is a <br />statutory city, existing and authorized pursuant to the laws of <br />the State of Minnesota; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Long Lake has filed with the <br />Minnesota Municipal Board a Petition for the concurrent <br />detachment and annexation of certain property currently within <br />the boundaries of the City of Orono pursuant to Minnesota Statute <br />414.061 subd. 5; and <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Municipal Board does not have <br />jurisdiction to hear the City of Long Lake's Petition for <br />detachment under 414.061 subd. 5; and <br />WHEREAS, even if the Minnesota Municipal Board does have <br />jurisdiction to hear the Petition, the property sought for <br />detachment is an important part of the future planning in the <br />City of Orono; and <br />WHEREAS, the detachment of said property would result in <br />the loss of current and future tax revenue for the City of O^ono; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the detachment of said property would adversely <br />affect the major watersheds, soil conditions and natural features <br />of th» area; and <br />WHEREAS, the detachment of said property would create <br />unnatural boundaries between the City of Long Lake and the City <br />of Orono; and <br />WHEREAS, the detachment of said property would adversely <br />affect planning and land use patterns in the area and violate the <br />comprehensive plan currently governing the area; and <br />WHEREAS, the detachment of said property would adversely <br />affect the present transportation network and create increased <br />traffic congestion on Orono public streets; and <br />I.
