- approved the bills as covered by vouchers 063975 through 064312. <br />Dr. Mich reported that attendance by parents for parent/teacher conferences was <br />excellent at all schools and that the time change at the high school level has <br />been well received by both parents and teachers; that there are a variety of <br />concerts being given by the schools at this time of the year and he encouraged <br />Board members to attend; that an open house will be held at Orono Primary School <br />on December 12 at 6:30 p.m.; that the first meeting of the expanded P.E.R. com <br />mittee was held on December 5 under Connie Fladeland's leadership and he distri <br />buted the committee membership list to the Board and stated that Board members <br />are welcome to attend the meetings if they so choose; that the MSBA Convention <br />will be held on January 18, 19, 20, 1990. <br />Don Anderson expressed appreciation to administration for their work in the <br />equity lawsuit as acknowledged in a letter from Timothy J. Pawlenty, attorney <br />for the intervening school districts in the equity lawsuit. Or. Mich, in turn, <br />expressed appreciation to the district office staff for their work in compiling <br />all the necessary information for the attorney. <br />Dave McKown stated that a parent whose children are attending Orono through open <br />enrollment had contacted him to express appreciation for the way they had been <br />accepted at Orono by students, teachers, and administration. <br />Regarding the revised construction plan. Dr. Mich informed the Board that the <br />Facilities Committee has made decisions on the best way to reduce costs, without <br />compromising on quality, and that the committee now asks the Board to grant <br />approval for the architect and construction manager to proceed with bidding <br />according to the reductions proposed. <br />Jim Franklin MOVED, Lucie Taylor SECONDED, that the Board of Education approve <br />the construction plan proposed by the Facilities Committee.
