Bernhardson, City Administrate November 21, 1989SUBJECT: Nawarre Redevelopment MeetingISSUE - Providing a brief summary of the issues discussed at the public information meeting held November 18, 1989, at theFreshwater Biological Institute.INTRODUCTION - Written notice was sent to all property owners within the Navarre area. Approximately 40 people attended the meeting. This represented a cross section of residents in the area, business owners, business property owners and whowere both business operators and private residential property <br />owners . <br />DISCUSSION - The following represents a list of issues that need <br />to be decided in the future regarding the Navarre area: <br />Issue #1. Does the City choose to do anything further at <br />this point in the area regarding: <br />a. Aesthetic look of the area <br />b. Land use <br />Issue #2. If the City does choose to do something at <br />what level do they want to approach it? <br />a. Master plan of land use <br />b. Comprehensive Plan amendment <br />c. Any appliccible rezonings <br />Issue #3. If the City has gone forward on #1 and #2 <br />does it desire to undertake any active steps to <br />assist in making the changes happen. <br />a. Market to private businesses <br />b. Assemble land <br />c. Undertake public financing <br />It was indicated to those in attendance that the first issue <br />regarding whether to go ahead or not would be broached w^h the <br />council in the January/February timeframe and that those in <br />attendance would be notified. <br />Additionally, should the City go ahead it would be <br />that the meetings be held at the Freshwater Biological Institute.
