Because of the nature of the area any feasibility study is <br />recommended to include the necessary soil borings along the route <br />to insure accurate cost. The cost of soil borings is <br />approximately $1,500 and it is recommended that 15 test borings <br />be taken. The overall cost of the feasibility study is expected <br />to be $6,000. <br />i <br />Staff has preliminarily discussed the issue of a linkage between <br />Highway 12 and the Orono pump station with Metro Waste Control. <br />They have indicated that this would be a more preferable <br />direction for them and see no reason why it would not be approved <br />but feel that the necessary process has to be undertaken in order <br />to authorize it. They havew indicated that it would be <br />considered a minor amendment and that it would have a very <br />limited review. <br />It should be noted that given the City’s existing capacity in the <br />line going east together with this capacity to the south the City <br />would be able to provide itself with more flexibility going in <br />either direction. <br />If this were to be initiated at this point, the Comprehensive <br />Plan amendment would be pl-^ced on the Planning Commission agenda <br />for their review and comment and could be acted on by the Council <br />after that. <br />ALTERNATIVES - <br />Issue tl - Feasibility Study <br />a.
