Bennepin County Sheriffs Water Patrol Report.
Chandler reported the following*
* The Don Shelby Invitational Bass Tournament was held 9/21
and 9/22 without any incidents.
* Chandler noted the 73 BWIs reported in the 9/16/91 Lake
Use minutes were for all of Hennepin County. 70 BWIs were issued
on Lake Minnetonka. This compares to 93 BWIs issued in 1990 and
60 issued in 1989. This reflects a state-wide reduction of about
30Jft in BWIs issued. The reduction seems to reflect the
designated driver campaign.
* There was one drowning in tlae South Lower Lake area,
determined to be accidental. This places drownings at 4 for
1991, none attributable to boating accidents. In 1990 there were
no drownings, in 1989, 4 water related deaths. Bureau of
Criminal Apprehension statics for the first six months show
increases in enforcement and accidents. Attempts to locate
people on the Lake is up 36% and total enforcement is up 5%. The
two most frequently issued citations on Lake Minnetonka are Quiet
Waters violations and lack of life saving devices.
2. WATER STRUCTURES, Babcock for Chair Grathwol
A.
