AGENDA ITEM <br />Date: July 22, 2024 <br />Title: Hire Superintendent - Parks and Facilities <br />Presenter: Adam Edwards, City Administrator / Engineer <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br />Purpose: <br />The purpose of this action is to hire and appoint a new Parks and Facilities Superintendent. <br />Item: 6 <br />2. Background: <br />On June 7th Josh Lemons, The Parks and Faculties Superintendent, tendered his resignation with <br />his last day being July 7, 2024. Since that notice we have been working to find and hire a <br />replacement. . <br />3. Recruitment: <br />Staff posted the position through June 23, and received thirty-two applications. First round <br />interviews were completed by a panel consisting of staff members and a second round of <br />interviews was completed with a panel made up of staff, councilmembers and a park <br />commissioner. Interviews were followed by background checks. <br />4. Recommended Candidate: <br />Taylor Zinnel is the recommended candidate for the Parks and Facilities Superintendent Position. <br />Taylor has 14 years of experience in Turf Management and holds a Degree in Golf Course and <br />Turfgrass Management. <br />5. Recommended Compensation: <br />Staff recommends that Mr. Taylor Zinnel be appointed to the position of Parks and Facilities <br />Superintendent effective August 19, 2024. <br />a. Salary. Starting salary of $91,029/year (Grade 13, Step 1) <br />b. Benefits. Vacation will accrue at a rate of 15 days per year and follow the personnel policy. <br />Vacation and sick leave will begin on the start date. The employee will be eligible to <br />participate in the City's benefit package starting the first day of the month following 30 days <br />of employment. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to appoint Mr. Taylor Zinnel to the position of Parks and Facilities Superintendent effective <br />August 19, 2024. <br />31 <br />
