HENNEPIN
DATE:
TO:
FROM:
September 16. 1991
Commissioner Tad Jude
Robert H. Rohlf^'^*^
SUBJECT: long lake library - orono school
I have had a conversation with Tom Misch, Orono School Superintendent, regarding the
possibility of school and liorary cooperation rega^ng library facilities either in the Orono
school or on the County-owned library site on Highway 12. The conversation wai very
positive and cordial and we agreed that at the moment there are no particular plans th.at either one
of us has in mind, nor are financially possible, in relationship to either library expai 'on or
school expansion.
We .greed that as time goes on, when the library is placing a .y libra^ dcvel pment or
building in or on the Orono site, we will be in touch with him and he in turn will inform us
when the school may begin any thoughts of expansion or development. We both agree that
libniy cooperation would be highly desirable but that there arc many elements that have to be
considered including that of timing in order for something to progress. We will be in touch with
each other on a regular basis and I will keep you informed of any developments.
It would simply appear that it is far too early for anything to be planned at this stage, given Mth
the uncertainties of library funding and of school expansion or growth plans. The issue is on
the Library Board agenda on September 26.
:cs
c: Hennepin County Library Board
