Ayrs 4, nays 0. <br />Trrl Brandenburg, 2775 Silver view Drive. explained that <br />last 'ear prior to building their home, she had called the City <br />and was told that nothing was planned 1n the near or distant <br />future for the east side of Old Crystal Bay Road North. She also <br />noted trees that were required to be cut by the City on her <br />property, after specifically requesting them to be left. She <br />questioned why Old Crystal Bay Road would be better than any of <br />the other north/south routes. <br />Butler noted that Old crystal Bay Road Is the o.ly <br />Intersection with a controlled semlonore. <br />Flint noted that It also would be very expensive on <br />other side because of the location of the telephone poles. <br />the <br />Gerhardson noted that there Is 66’ of right-of-way for Old <br />Crystal Bay Road. Me also explained that it was he who talked to <br />Ms. Brandenburg's husband and had told him that at the time <br />Hennepin County Parks had shown no interest In the trail system <br />and If acquisition of property were to become necessary. all <br />Involved property owners would be contacted. Me also explained <br />the trees cut were to deter a futu'“e drainage problem and the <br />cutting was stopped at the request of the builder. The trees <br />were In the right-of-way. <br />Bob Will, 160 Old Crystal Bay Road North, was puzzled why <br />the need for the trail at all. He noted that there is not <br />pedlstrlan traffic along this stretch. <br />Goetten noted the survey taken of residents i idicating <br />overwhelming request for a bike trail. <br />Flint felt that trail systems such as this have become an <br />asset In other communities and they would try to use the right- <br />of-way wherever possible and will certainly work with adjacent <br />property owners. <br />Brandenburg wanted to know who wiM <br />maintenance. <br />responsible for <br />Callahan explained these types of issues will be addressed <br />If the trail actually is developed. mb felt that in general the <br />Council favored the proposal. <br />. . ..
