Ororo
agreed to provide Long Lake with a letter explaining expeditures.
Barrett understood that Long Lake's attorney had said that
because they think there are uncertainties that they want to get
rid of, they are proposing to cancel the contract entirely and
draft a new one.
best
very
with
with
been
Jabbour felt that the City Council should do what is
for Orono. Me also explained that in the past he was
critical of the former Council in regards to negotiations
Long Lake. Me noted that after several attempts to meet
Long Lake and work through situations nothing has really
accomplished. He also explained that he has visited several
other police departments to get an i1ea on how they work. ho
felt that they do not understand the fundamentals of running a
business. Jabbour explained that the irono Council delegates
decision making to staff, where Long i.ske does not. Their
Council feels they must have a hands-on In every area.
Callahan felt that the new administrator should bo directed
to review the fire contract with the fire department to find out
what affect the budget cut will have on them and whether it will
affect us and what we can do to remedy it.
Jabbour explained the Long Lake budget cut was 10% of the
overall budget, 80% of the Long Lake portion. Their remaining
contribution was only 13,000.
Butler wanted to know if any one in Long Lake has considered
the Impact to their fire department if Orono reciprocated in kind
if we deducted the same percentage of our rosponsibi1ity to the
fire department.
