Date: July 8, 2024 Item: 8 <br />Presenter: Correy Farniok, Police Chief <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Title: Event Compensation for Police Officers <br /> <br /> <br />1.Purpose: <br />The purpose is to gain approval to increase officer compensation for a single event. <br />2.Background: <br />The police department has been requested to assist South Lake Police Department with the Fourth <br />of July community event occurring in their city. They are requesting mutual aid assistance from <br />the Orono Police Department with several details during this fourth of July celebration. The city <br />will be reimbursed at the rate of $125 per hour to assist with providing staff, equipment and <br />resources to assist with this event. Police officers will receive $90.00 per hour compensation <br />when assigned to details during this community celebration occurring July 3rd and 4th to assist <br />South Lake Police Department with covering details for this community event. <br />3.Cost: <br />City will invoice South Lake Police Department $125.00 per officer working July 3 and 4 during <br />this community event. <br />4.Funding: <br />- <br />5.Staff Recommendation: <br />Recommend approval of $90.00 per hour for police officers working this special event. <br />AGENDA ITEM <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />I recommend the approval of invoicing South Lake Police Department at $125.00 per hour for each <br />officer working this special event and to pay each police officer at the rate of $90.00 per hour for this <br />special detail. <br />31
