City Administrator's Employment Contract <br />ISSUE - Severance pay due to City Administrator Mark Bernhardson <br />at the termination of his contract. <br />DISCUSSION - As Stated in Section II C of the employment contract <br />the City Administrator may resign after two months prior written <br />notice; and in Section X E he will be paid two weeks severance <br />pay upon termination of the employment contract. Mr. Bernhardson <br />has followed the contract provision as stated and therefore <br />should be paid two weeks several*re pay in the amount of <br />$2,221.36. In addition to the severance pay Mr. Bernhardson will <br />have an unused vacation balance of a^'proximately 51.7 hours or <br />$1,435.00, also to be paid at the time of termination. At this <br />time Mr. Bernhardson's total estimated severance and vacation <br />amount to $3,656.36. These figures will of course be adjusted to <br />reflect the final correct hours and rates upon presentation of <br />the final time sheet. <br />RECOMMENDATION - It is requested that Council approve the <br />estimat'e3 severance package as presented with a final accounting <br />to be done with the last time sheet. <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by _, seconded by _, to approve a 4% <br />salary increase from $57,755 to $60,065 for City Administrator <br />Mark Bernhardson effective May 1, 1991 and to approve payment of <br />two weeks severance pay and all unused vacation in the total <br />amount of $3,656.36, and that such payment be adjusted as <br />required after audit of the final balances and implementation of <br />the new salary rate.
