Hallin, City Clerk ^0. ^ <br />July 2, 1991 <br />SOBJBCTs Responsible Authority - Data Privacy <br />% <br />Attachment: A.Resolution #1197 Dated 0/23/80 <br />B.Draft Resolution <br />ISSOE - Appointment of responsible authority for purposes of <br />meeting the requirements of the Data Practices Act. <br />IMTRODOCTION - When the State established the Data Practices Act <br />•Ach municipality was required to name a responsible authority <br />for purposes of meeting the requirements of the Act and a <br />designee to assist in its implementation. The responsible <br />authority and designee shall administer the Act and establish <br />procedures to insure that requests for Government data are <br />complied with and a records retention schedule is also <br />Implemented by resolution. <br />DISCUSSION - As noted in Attachment A Melvin Kilbo was appointed <br />as the responsible authority and Thomas Kuehn a*i the designee. <br />Melvin Kilbo has retired and the City needs, to appoint a <br />responsible authority. <br />RBCONNBMDATION - It is recommended that Thomas Barrett, City <br />Attorney, be appointed as the City's responsible authority and <br />that Thomas Kuehn be the desingee. Attachment B is a draft <br />resolution outlining such appointment. <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by seconded by Council adopts <br />Aaaolutlon #_a resolution appointing a responsible authority, a <br />designee and assigns duties.
