Prior to his employment with Anderson Engineering of MN, LLC, Robert worked for the Minnesota Pollution Control agency, in the Surface Water Quality Monitoring Unit. At the MPCA, Robert was involved in a variety of water quality monitoring programs. Programs such as Intensive Watershed Management, Sulfate-Wild Rice, Mercury/Heavy Metals, and more, focused on the collection of field data and the sampling of physical and biological indicators of water quality. Along with state programs, Robert conducted sampling and data collection for the federal National Lake Assessment. Sampling of physical indicators of water quality included general chemistry, nutrients, heavy metals, E. coli, VOC’s and more. Biological sampling included zoo and phytoplankton tows, chlorophyll-a, benthic macroinvertebrates and more. Robert’s wide range of experience in natural resource monitoring and sampling programs across Minnesota has provided him with unique experience and knowledge of the complex interactions between hydrology, ecology and pedology. Prior to working with the MPCA, Robert interned with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in the State Climatology Office. At the state Climatology office, Robert’s primary responsibilities were data entry and data management of the states combined climatological monitoring networks. This work involved doing QA/QC checks on large volumes of data that will be used in a wide range of decision-making situations by both government officials and private individuals.
