Additionally, applicants request a <br />10.1* side setback variance to the 50' standard, in order to <br />maximize the separation between the alternate (future) drainfield <br />site and the house. <br />Applicants purchased the 1 acre parcel adjacent to their <br />homestead lot, doubling the size of their property to 2 acres but <br />still requiring variances to lot width and area. No other land <br />is available for acquisition. <br />Planning COMission Recosmendation - <br />The Planning Commission reviewed this application at their <br />May 20th meeting, and on a vote of 6-1, recommended approval of <br />all three variances. Hardships noted by the Planning Commission <br />include the following: <br />1. The existing house on the property has an extremely <br />substandard side setback, being about 10' from the south <br />side lot line. Construction of a new residence 39.9' from <br />the side lot line will be a significant increase in <br />conformity, as opposed to applicants' other option of adding <br />to the existing house.
