He advised that the Cities of Mapl'i Plain <br />and Independence have been preserving a rorridor in Independence <br />that they consider to be a southern bypass. <br />Callahan anked the members of the Citizen's Group if they <br />ate in support of the City Council's position. <br />Ben Field replied, "I represent the northern. County Road 6 <br />group, and v;e are very much in favor of the Council’s stane o'* <br />where the corridor should go. Wc would encourage a very forceful <br />representation >f that to MNDoT when the meeting with the <br />Commission of Transportation occurs." <br />Jabbour stated that what he has sens*jd from talking with <br />members of the Citizen's Group is that they feel that Council has <br />"dropped the ball" since maki ’g our motion to take a firm <br />position. He said, "I think the Group v/ould like Council to now <br />sell that idea forcefully to whoever is in charge." <br />Bruce Carlson indicated that he did not think Council had <br />dropped the ball, but had merely cone to the next step in the <br />pf^Qcess. He asked Council if anyone knows what assumptions .^ere <br />used in the preparation of the preliminary studies. <br />Bernhardson stated that MMDOT did ni>t explain taeir <br />methodology to a great degree. He suggest»»d that it may be <br />helpful to ask Larry Dallam directly about specific assumptions. <br />Carlson asked if Council is aware of the purpose tor the <br />upcoming meeting with the Commissioner of Transportation. <br />- 14 -
