ENVIRONMENT, Eurasian Water Milfoil Task Force, Reese. <br />Babcock <br />of the <br />carried <br />private <br />Reese <br />Policy Bo Use of Suburban Truck. Reese moved, <br />seconded, to approve the policy statement regarding use <br />Suburban truck as recommended by the committee. Motion <br />unanimously. ^ . <br />2. Funding Progress. Reese re^’orted $.34,010 from <br />sources. The milfoil control program is short $100,000+. <br />implored the Board members to contact their local residents for <br />contributions. Reese said there will be a presentation to the <br />Hennepin County Board of Commissioners to ask them tor funding. <br />A request has been made to County Board Member Tad Jude to place <br />the milfoil program in the County’s 1992 budget. <br />3 Operations Progress. Gtrommen, Maro and Reese met <br />with the Hennepin Park Board. They will support the weed harvest <br />program at the same level as 1990. A request was left <br />Park Board for the use of 3 to 5 acres of Carver Park land for <br />disposal of harvested milfoil. ^ <br />b. Legislative Progress. The current bill provides for an <br />inter-agency committee and a citizens committee to deal with a <br />long range program on exotic species management. Objections nave <br />been raised about dealing with all species and using funding from <br />watercraft licenses. Reese feels a bill will probably be passed <br />but he is not sure of its ’ uiue to the Lake du^ to the small <br />amount of funding it will generate. . <br />Hurr recommended the 4/10/91 lette* from Bob DeVries, <br />Minnesota Sportsfishing Congress, regarding the surcharge on alX <br />watercraft be responded to as the executive director <br />recommended. The Board concurred by consensus. <br />c. shore weed collection program status. Reese <br />reported advice from counsel and insurance carriers indicates the <br />liability is too great for individuals delivering their weeds to <br />the barge. Army Corps of Engineers Reconnaiss^ce Study <br />Reese reported there is still a chance for funding of <br />draft reconnaissance report. The funds will be released to <br />DNR. Any such funds initially will apply to the reconnaissance <br />report in 1992. Control program fund would follow completion or <br />that report. _ . <br />5. Resolution Re Early Detection of Milfoil Reese moved, <br />Rascop seconded, to adopt a Resolution supporting a program of <br />funding treatment for early detection of milfoil in lakes, the <br />Resolution to be forwarded to the MN DNR, copies to <br />legislators.
