r • <br />V. <br />'•r <br />'M <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD <br />OF ORONO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 278 <br />HELD ON APRIL 22. 1991 <br />The regular meeting of the School Board of Orono Independent Scho. <br />278 was held on Monday. April 22, 1991. <br />’fict No. <br />Present: David McKown <br />Don Anderson <br />Lucie Taylor <br />Jor.n Maresh <br />Peg Swanson <br />Thomas Micii <br />William Fenholt <br />Absent: Ja"ies Franklin <br />UPON MOTION by Lucie Taylor, seconded by Jonn Maresh, the consent agenda was <br />approved as follows: <br />• approved the minutes of the April 8. 1991 regular meeting; <br />- approved the request of Sarah McDermot*. Orono Primary School teacher, for <br />a leave of absence following her maternity disability leave, the extended <br />leave would be for the remainder of the fall semester of the 1991-92 <br />school year; <br />- accepted the R. J. Dunlap scholarship; <br />• contributed S200.00 to the Orono Education Association to offset costs of <br />the recognition/retirement breakfast held at the end of the school year; <br />- approved the Activity Fund Report for third quarter, 1991; <br />• approved the bills as covered by vouchers 069492 through 069594. <br />Motion carried. <br />Or. Mich reported that on April 9 the Early Childhood Family Education program <br />sponsored an informational session for parents with representatives from area <br />social service agencies; that lean Brown. Roseville School District, has been in <br />our District this past week to review/study Orono's health c'-'e service and a <br />report/recommendations will be given to the Board at a latt ^.te; that the <br />Board will receive, at a later date, a copy of a report from the <br />Minnesota Business Partnership which addresses a number of education issues; <br />that he and Dave McKown met recently with representatives of the organization <br />Interested in building a hockey arena/multipurpose athletic facility at tdiich <br />time they encouraged the representatives to contact the six communities that the <br />District serves seeking assurance of their support for this facility and once <br />this support is in place^. Mr. McKown and he would again meet with the <br />representatives; that negot" ?tions have begun with the Crono Community Church <br />regarding the School Age thiSd Program and that Board approval will be necessary <br />the negotiations K/i^e L<een completed; that he wanted to remind the Board of <br />• three celebration/open houses for the Orono Education Link to be held on <br />April 25, 26 and 26; that two plaques will be displayed in Room 107L, one which <br />denotes past/present Board members and the years served in the District and one <br />which denotes past/present Superintendents and the years served in the District; <br />that he wanted to express a. -reciation to the Development Committee for a <br />successful staff development program on April 19 and that tapes are available <br />for Board members to view.
