E.xpected ret enues of $2.7 million <br />are about the same as 1998 let els. The lety remains <br />stable, amount to about S8 aiuuialh on a SI00.000 home. <br />The budget covers ongoing effcits such ns wnter qunlity <br />monitoring, pennitting. enforcement, wetlnnd lestoution <br />mitigntion and staffing. Capital improvements covered in <br />the budget include projects to investigate and improve <br />District waters in both the upper and lower watershed: <br />Lakes Xokomis and Hiawatha. Paintei Creek. .Viboretum. <br />Chain of Lakes Phase II. For copies of the <br />tides, c.ill the District .it 471-0590. <br />Extolsior Ponds Rotoivo Alum Troatmont <br />.\luminum sulfate (alumi was applied to Excelsior ponds <br />located on Highway 19 adjacent to Excelsior Park on <br />October 24th and 25th. The alum application was pan of <br />the effort to improi e water quality downstream in Gideon <br />Bav of Lake Miiutetonka. <br />.Alum will reduce phosphoius. ^ significant water quality <br />problem, in both the ponds and Lake .Minnetonka, <br />MC\\'D .inticip.ites removing least 60 pounds of <br />phosphorus from the ponds and between 18 to 32 pounds <br />from Lake Minnetonka. <br />.Alum canies suspended phosphoius with it as it gr.idu.illy <br />sinks from the lake’s surface to the bottom where it forms <br />a blanket or Hoc.
