ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MINUTES FOR SEPTEMBER 28.1998 <br />(Mayor/Council Report, continued) <br />GafFron stated he will provide that information to the City Council members for their review. <br />Flint suggested the City Council continue to look at the mitigation of Holbrook Park as an addition to <br />the Orono park system, noting this is an excellent opportunity to enhance the City's relationship with <br />Long Lake. Flint also suggested working with Long Lake on the Eisingcr property. <br />(#16) ACCEPT BID FOR TWO PORTABLE ELECTRIC GENERATORS <br />Gappa reviewed his September 28, 1998 memorandum regarding the purchase of two portable electric <br />generators to be used for the emergency operation of sanitary sewer lift stations during power outages. <br />Kelley inquired what these generators will be capable of running. <br />Gappa stated the generators w ill run any of the City’s lift stations and will help the neighboring areas in <br />case of a storm. <br />Kelley moved, Peterson seconded, to authorize the purchase of two 50KW portable electric <br />generators from the Katolight Corporation at a cost not to exceed $40,341.00. <br />VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />(#18) BONESTROO ASSOCIATES - COUNTY ROAD 15 STUDY <br />Flint stated from the language on Page 3, paragraph 1. this analysis should involve the local east/west <br />roads in Orono and how they would fit into the overall transportation system. <br />Glenn Cook stated the> looked at the central area and anal> zed how that would affect County <br />Road 15. <br />Kelley stated he thought the study was premature and the Cit\’ should wait with this analysis until <br />County Road 15 is completed. <br />Goetten stated the City Council should dctenninc what to do in the interim to address the safety <br />concerns related to Countv Road 15 until County Road 15 is completed. <br />Mayor Jabbour commented that he has received numerous complaints from the residents about <br />access onto County Road 15, noting that this road should be looked at for safety reasons. Mayor <br />Jabbour inquired whether the City Council wished to proceed with this study. <br />Flint and Goetten replied yes, they wished to continue with the study. Goetten remarked that there <br />also should be some stoplights or stop signs along County Road 15 to help break up the flow of <br />traffic. <br />Kelley inquired whether it was good City planning to have drivers make a left-hand turn onto <br />Countv Road 15 during certain times of the day. <br />Page 15
